I have been working in the wedding photography industry for over ten years incorporating a photo journalist style to capture candid moments and emotion as they unfold. I have largely worked as a second shooter. I currently shoot with Robert Dean at http://www.deanphotoarts.com/. As the second shooter my skill set is one that is more as a photo journalist. It is my job to portray the joy of the day as they happen without disrupting or intruding on the ceremony and celebration, capturing emotional moments that tell a story.
Specializing in individual and family portraits, I strive to capture the unique personality of my subjects as well as the connection between family members. I prefer natural lighting in relaxed informal settings. Before each shoot I like to meet to discuss potential locations to create a moment unique to each individual or family.
Coming from a painting background, I can't help but to push the photographic process beyond the norm. Having entered into the photography field before the coming of digital technology, I already had amassed a small collection of 35mm and medium format as well as toy cameras and built my own black and white darkroom. As I discovered digital photography I found ways to incorporate both. These are some of my most creative works in the field.
